Editorial & Pattern Testing Standards

At Lumina Crochet, accuracy and clarity are the foundation of every pattern and tutorial we publish. Whether a reader is investing $80 in merino wool for an heirloom cardigan or picking up a single skein of kitchen cotton, they deserve instructions they can trust completely.

Our 4-Stage Pattern Verification Process

  1. Careful Swatching & Blocking: Every stitch pattern is first swatched in at least two fiber compositions (typically a natural wool/cotton blend and an accessible everyday acrylic) and measured both before and after steam or wet blocking.
  2. Technical Editing (US Crochet Standard): Written instructions follow Craft Yarn Council (CYC) standards for US crochet terminology, yarn weight classifications (#0 Lace through #6 Super Bulky), and size schematics.
  3. Independent Maker Testing: Prior to publication, garments and complex stitch patterns are tested by our panel of volunteer crocheters across sizes XS–5XL to verify stitch counts, yardage consumption, and drape.
  4. Continuous Updates & Errata Log: If a reader spots a typo or requests clarification on a repeat row, our editorial team updates the pattern within 24 hours and notes the revision date at the top of the post.

Original Photography Commitment

We photograph finished samples, yarn swatches, and step-by-step stitch close-ups in natural daylight so you can see true stitch definition, wrong-side vs. right-side texture, and selvedge edges clearly.
