FOUNDER & LEAD DESIGNER

Hi, I’m Clara Vance

Welcome to Lumina Crochet! I design modern, texture-rich crochet blankets, size-inclusive wearables, and practical home goods that celebrate natural fibers and mindful slow making.

How Lumina Crochet Began

My grandmother taught me how to work a simple single crochet chain on her back porch when I was nine years old, using a worn aluminum H-8 hook and a leftover skein of rosewood worsted wool. Years later, while working in textile merchandising in the Pacific Northwest, I realized how many crocheters struggled to find patterns that looked effortlessly modern while still being relaxing and clearly written.

I launched Lumina Crochet (luminacrochet.com) with one guiding promise: every free pattern published here is swatched, blocked, and tested by real makers across multiple hook tensions before it ever goes live.

What Makes Our Patterns Different

  • True Swatch-Tested Gauge: We never estimate yardage from a calculator alone. Every blanket, hat, scarf, and cardigan is crocheted from start to finish and steam-blocked before measurements are recorded.
  • Stitch Multiples Included: Want to turn a baby blanket into a king-size bed runner, or adjust a scarf width for bulky yarn? Every pattern includes the exact foundation chain multiple so you can customize dimensions with zero guesswork.
  • Size-Inclusive Garments (XS to 5XL): Our wearable patterns are graded for bust measurements from 30″ to 62″ with clear schematic notes on positive ease and armhole depth.
  • Accessible Yarn Choices: For every design, we list both our original sample yarn and 2–3 affordable, easy-to-find substitutions at your local yarn shop.
